CHALKED DESTINATIONS FOR GOODS STOCK
In steam days, a wagon’s destination was often chalked on its side. Here is a set of Sodor locations in a few different chalk fonts, with the letters varying in height to make them appear natural. Each letter is between 1.5-2.5mm tall.
Destinations: Tidmouth, Ffarquhar, Elsbridge, Knapford, Knapford Harbour, Dryaw, Brendam, Arlesburgh, Killdane, Wellsworth, Crovan’s Gate, Norramby, Crosby, Peel Godred, Suddery, Barrow, Kirk Ronan, Vicarstown, Kellsthorpe Road, Manchester.
If you need more of a certain destination then we can do a custom combination, just drop us a line via the contact page.
Includes some N W letter sets in white, enough for 2 wagons plus a spare set.
WHITE Ns and Ws (Franklin Heavy)
Always useful for branding goods wagons, why buy an entire alphabet when you only need 2 letters over and over?
Includes 35 Ns and 35 Ws in Franklin Gothic Heavy font. The letters have little black corner markers around the edge, this is to help cutting out as they are white letters on white paper, we have found the white version much less susceptible to ‘silvering’ than the blue.
WHITE Ns, Ws, Rs (Old Sans) - A4 sheet
A much larger sheet of Ns, Ws, and Rs in Old Sans font.
8mm tall - 21 Ns and Ws and 7 Rs
5mm tall - 40 Ns and Ws and 16 Rs
1.5mm tall - 140 Ns and Ws and 40 Rs
FFARQUHAR BRANCH COACHES

FFARQUHAR QUARRY CO. WAGON DECALS
Several variants available, all with different wagon number combinations. Based on the Rev. Awdry’s models and the illustrations in the books. May need adapting depending on the wagon you have.

OTHER SUDRIAN DECALS
S.C.RUFFEY
S.C.Ruffey is a ballast contractor based at Tidmouth, not known for keeping its wagons in good working order. These decals have been designed to be as close to the illustrations as possible and are scaled to fit the 9ft wheelbase Dapol 7-plank wagon.
A.W.DRY & Co. x 4
A.W.Dry & Co. was the author’s easter egg, the civil engineers who helped to drain the marshes around Knapford and Elsbridge and worked on the construction of many of the railways on the island.
4 x lettering sets in white, shaded black. 44mm wide by 4mm tall.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THESE DECALS
The transparent decal material is one piece, not just the coloured part of the transfer, so cut as close to the decal as you can.
Apply over gloss paint.
A small amount of Micro-Set will help soften the decal and get it to adhere to the surface
Once firmly pressed into place (I use a small brush for this) apply Micro-Sol in small amounts to get a smooth finish. Micro-Sol helps the decal conform to the shape underneath and reduces ‘silvering’ where the transparent paper is visible.
It is also useful to use the brush to absorb excess moisture.
The transfer should settle flat over rivet detail. If it doesn’t, then apply more Micro-Sol and leave for a couple of minutes before gently pressing on it with a damp cloth or kitchen roll. If it’s dry it will stick!
Once applied and in place, leave it for 24 hours to dry.
Seal the decal with a small amount of matt varnish/lacquer. Don’t use too much, a gentle ‘waft’ will do. I have had good results from Tamiya Matt Lacquer. Dullcote is also good but hard to find in the UK.
Do 2 coats, with approx. 15 minutes between them, then leave for 48 hours to harden.
Weathering
Be careful when using washes as they can react with the decal and lacquer, and lift the ink off.
Leave it a few weeks for the lacquer to completely cure if you intend to use enamel washes. Acrylic washes and powders are generally OK to use but err on the side of caution.
